Emily Osment has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Jack Anthony, after only five months of marriage.
The Young Sheldon star submitted the filing on Friday, March 7, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The couple, who wed on October 12, 2024, listed their separation date as December 7, 2024. TMZ was the first to report the news.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Osment, who turns 33 on March 10, acknowledged the difficult decision.
“I think with any big decision in your life, whether it’s relationships or work or whatever it may be, you have to firmly plant both feet in that decision,” she said. “Ultimately, it didn’t work out.”
The couple, who became engaged in June 2023, had a prenuptial agreement in place and did not have children together.
Osment initially shared her engagement news in a heartfelt Instagram post, expressing how “deliriously happy” she was and showing off her unique engagement ring—featuring a square diamond beside a circular emerald set in gold.
“I did not know life could be this sweet,” she wrote at the time. “I am so proud of the life we have built together and the people we have become over the last few years. This love is so big and so uniquely ours, and I know it can do anything.”
Osment and Anthony kept much of their relationship private, but she first shared a glimpse of him on Instagram in October 2021 when they attended a Phish concert together. Leading up to their wedding, she exclusively told PEOPLE in May 2024 that she “could not wait to be married.”
Just days after tying the knot, Osment appeared on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, confirming their wedding and describing it as “great so far” and “glorious.”
Following news of the divorce filing, Osment appears to have removed photos of Anthony from her Instagram profile.
