Tara Subkoff Lists 1940s R.M. Schindler Home in Hollywood Hills for $3.3 Million
After purchasing an Outpost Estates residence for $2.4 million early last year, fashion designer and director Tara Subkoff is now putting it back on the market with a nearly $1 million price increase, asking just under $3.3 million.
The 80-year-old modernist home, designed by renowned architect R.M. Schindler, is known as the Jacob and Margaret Druckman House, named after its original owners. Completed in the early 1940s, the residence offers approximately 1,600 square feet of thoughtfully restored split-level living space, featuring four bedrooms, three bathrooms, refinished hardwood floors, built-in furnishings, and high wood-beam ceilings punctuated by clerestory windows. Expansive glass walls provide sweeping canyon views.
The main level boasts an open-concept great room with a living area centered around a decorative red-brick and white-stucco fireplace. Adjacent to the dining area, the distinctive pink-and-mint-green kitchen features marble countertops, vintage-style appliances, and a cozy breakfast nook with an integrated table and bench seating. A short flight of steps leads down to a powder room and a guest bedroom, currently set up as a media room.
Three additional bedrooms are located on the lowest level, along with a den/office and two bathrooms designed in the same soft pastel tones as the kitchen. Outside, the lush hillside property—spanning just under a quarter acre—offers a serene retreat with an alfresco lounge and dining area, a fireplace, and an oval-shaped pool surrounded by a flagstone sundeck.
Listed with William Baker of The Agency and Lilian Pfaff of Modern California Home, the property also features a newly installed gate, an alarm system, and a two-car garage.
Subkoff, a Connecticut native, is best known as the founder of the art collective and fashion label Imitation of Christ. She has also acted in films such as When the Bough Breaks and The Cell. Previously, she owned a 1930s Saul Harris Brown-designed Streamline Moderne home in L.A.’s Silver Lake neighborhood, which she sold for $3 million in December 2023.
