‘No One is Above the Law!’- Supreme Court REFUSES to Stop Donald Trump’s Criminal Sentencing in Hush-Money Case

Donald Trump’s attempt to avoid getting a sentencing for the high-profile hush-money case was recently rejected by the Supreme Court.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court shared a statement on the matter and how the application for a stay regarding the new president-elect was denied.

They went on to explain how the burden that this sentencing will impose for the new President’s responsibilities is in light of the trial court’s statement of intent to impose a sentence of unconditional discharge after a short virtual hearing in this regard.

The Supreme Court’s vote happened 5-4 with justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh adding votes to block Donald Trump’s sentencing.

As per Trump, the sentencing had him arguing about how close the date was to his inauguration as president of the US and how it was being seen as a part to distract him from his transition to become president of the country, the NYT shared.

Trump will appear in front of NY Judge Juan M. Merchan for his sentencing on January 20 at 9:30 am local time. His legal team did try to have the entire case dismissed on several occasions since the first conviction but that was to no avail.
