This is not the first time the actress’s appearance has caused a stir online. In November 2024, the actress stepped out for a casual stroll in Brooklyn and sported a unique ensemble. While Holmes’ look blended luxury with versatility, some netizens think the star looked “homeless.”

The limited edition bomber jacket, priced at $1,545, effortlessly elevates practical outdoor wear into a fashion statement.

While it is water-repellant, it can also be reversed to reveal a quilted side. Embracing the trend, Holmes sported an eye-catching multi-colored jacket from Marfa Stance.
Underneath the jacket, the “Dawson’s Creek” star rocked a white cozy-looking sweater that features an exaggerated polo-neck.
Holmes paired her bomber with wide-legged gray jeans, which showcased a “raw hem” and donned “stalwart Acne Studios square-toe loafers.” The actress also carried a tan-colored “Khaite tote” bag, which perfectly complemented her “earthy” jacket.

Katie Holmes’ latest fashion choice sparked a wave of online reactions, with social media users divided in their opinions.
“Looks like a hot air balloon that popped,” one Instagram user quipped. Another remarked, “This is not stunning but frumpy—I wouldn’t scrub floors in that attire,” while someone else bluntly stated, “She looks homeless.” A TikTok commenter added, “Dressed like a bag lady 😂😂😳 not impressive, sorry.”
Many critics zeroed in on Holmes’ pants. “She is a beautiful woman, but those pants are hideous,” one person commented. Another echoed, “Those pants are ridiculous.” More disapproval followed, with another observer writing, “Those pants are horribly unflattering.” A frustrated social media user pleaded, “Can we all get over these clown pants already???”
Amid the criticism, a handful of fans came to Holmes’ defense. “She looks pretty 😍,” one admirer swooned. Another praised, “Her outfit is amazing! 🤍🤎✌🏼,” while a third chimed in, “Very nice ❤️.” Yet another fan gushed, “Her style is awesome.”
Holmes, known for her fashion-forward choices, recently collaborated with Parisian brand A.P.C., a label she has loyally followed since the ‘90s. The collaboration resulted in a collection of a dozen signature pieces, blending refined accessories with designs inspired by femininity.
To bring the collection to life, Holmes delved into A.P.C.’s archives, drawing inspiration from early 2000s collections and reimagining them for a 2024 audience. Designed as a “series of complete silhouettes,” the pieces were crafted for effortless mixing and matching. One standout item—a pastel-colored quilt—was inspired by a prototype made by Holmes’ mother. Limited to just 100 copies, the quilt became a signature piece in the collection.
On June 5, Holmes and A.P.C. launched the collection, “Interaction #24 A.P.C. Katie Holmes,” with an event at the brand’s Mercer Street store in New York. During a Q&A moderated by Gabe Tesoriero, Holmes and A.P.C.’s Artistic Director, Judith Touitou, discussed their creative inspirations and the personal styles that influenced the designs.
“[Katie’s] choices were always very clear; she had these smart and thoughtful ideas about what a woman today should wear to feel confident and beautiful while still being herself,” Touitou shared.
Holmes explained her approach to the design process: “I wanted to create a complete wardrobe—pieces that work for both day and night.” When asked to describe the collection’s unique twist in one word, she responded, “Tradition.”
She elaborated, “We’ve incorporated quilting into some of our pieces and created quilts that accompany the collection. To me, patchwork represents history and memories—a thread of generations living within each of us. It’s about vintage inspiring the modern, honoring our past, and embracing tradition.”
Reflecting on the experience, Holmes expressed gratitude for working alongside A.P.C. founders Jean and Judith Touitou. “I learned so much from their artistic perspectives on shape, form, and color,” she shared. “This collaboration has been a joyous reminder that working together with kindness can produce beautiful and authentic creations.”
