The late author Tom Clancy’s sprawling Baltimore penthouse is now listed for $8.7 million, a 28% reduction from its original asking price last fall.
Initially listed at $12 million in November, the price was later adjusted to $10.999 million, according to Shawn Breck of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. The latest reduction is aimed at attracting buyers during the busy spring market, said Mr. Breck, one of the property’s listing agents. Alexandra Clancy, the author’s widow, plans to move out soon and is eager to sell. Ms. Clancy was unavailable for comment.
Located in the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, the approximately 12,000-square-foot penthouse features five bedrooms and is the result of merging four separate apartments. The Clancys initially purchased three units in 2009 for $12.6 million—a record-breaking price at the time—then acquired three more in 2010 for around $4 million. While four of the six units were combined to create this luxurious home, the remaining two are rented out and not currently for sale, Mr. Breck said.
