At least 37 people have lost their lives, and dozens more are injured following a catastrophic collision between two buses in Bolivia.
The crash occurred early Saturday morning on the highway between Uyuni and Colchani when one of the buses veered into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with another bus.
According to a spokesman for the Departmental Police Command of Potosí, 39 people sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in Uyuni, while 37 others were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased and ensure the injured receive proper medical care.
Emergency responders used a crane to lift one of the overturned buses, while recovery teams carefully removed victims from the wreckage. Bodies were seen being carried away wrapped in blankets.
Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed may have played a role, with one of the buses reportedly crossing into the opposite lane before the collision, according to the Bolivian Ministry of Government.
