Terrifying Moment as ‘Restaurant in the Sky’ Shakes Mid-Air, Sending Diners Into Panic

Diners at a ‘restaurant in the sky’ in San Juan, Puerto Rico, experienced sheer terror when their elevated platform appeared to give way—leaving guests fearing for their lives.

The heart-stopping incident took place on Sunday at a FlyDining concept restaurant, where a group of visitors was suspended more than 100 feet in the air.

Footage taken by one diner showed the platform operated by FlyDining appear to buckle as guests screamed in horror high above the ground

Footage captured by Rayshun Bowers, who was celebrating her 41st birthday in Puerto Rico, shows the dining platform suddenly buckling, prompting panicked screams.

“We literally almost lost our lives!” Bowers wrote in a Facebook post alongside the video. “In mid-air at 100 feet, the cable SNAPPED! In that moment, all I could do was pray and tell everyone to stay calm.”

In another clip, a diner points her camera toward the ground and nervously asks, “Who signed me up for this?” Within seconds, the platform shudders violently, and she exclaims, “Oh Lord… oh, oh, oh my f**** God,”** before the recording cuts out.

In a separate video, another diner was seen pointing her camera toward the ground below and asking, 'Who signed me up for this?'

Restaurant Denies Structural Failure

Despite the terrifying experience, FlyDining franchise owner Scott Zuckerman assured El Nuevo Día that the 13 guests and staff members were never in danger and were safely lowered to the ground.

In an Instagram statement, FlyDining Puerto Rico clarified that a safety rope used for wind protection became detached, causing unexpected movement. The platform’s roof then made contact with the crane boom, but “there were no structural failures or safety risks, and all systems remained secure.”

An investigation is now underway, and the restaurant has temporarily closed for inspections.

“Safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to maintaining the highest operational standards,” the company said.

A Birthday to Remember

Bowers reflected on the ordeal in her post, calling it “a life-changing experience.”

“What was supposed to be a celebration turned into something unforgettable,” she wrote. “I’m beyond grateful for His protection—this birthday will never be forgotten!”
