Justin Bieber has spoken out against speculation that he is using drugs after recent public appearances sparked concern among fans about his health.
Following social media discussions about his gaunt and tired look, the Grammy-winning artist’s representative set the record straight, telling TMZ: “The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true.” They added that Bieber is actually “in one of the best places in his life.”
Currently, Bieber is focused on fatherhood, raising his six-month-old son, Jack Blues, with his wife, Hailey Bieber, while also working on new music.
His representative explained that Bieber has gone through a transformative year, cutting ties with some close friendships and business relationships that no longer aligned with his priorities. As he devotes himself to his family and creative passions, he finds the persistent rumors about his health both “exhausting and pitiful.”
Concerns arose earlier this month when Bieber was spotted in New York City with red eyes and dark circles. However, sources told TMZ that his weary appearance was simply the result of a long night in the recording studio and caring for his restless son.
Bieber has been open in the past about his struggles with substance abuse. In his 2020 documentary Justin Bieber: Sessions, he detailed how he started using marijuana at 12 or 13 and eventually turned to heavier substances, including pills, lean, MDMA, and psychedelic mushrooms. He admitted that his drug use became so severe that his security team would check his pulse at night.
After realizing he was in a dangerous downward spiral, Bieber sought help, crediting his faith for giving him the strength to turn his life around. In 2021, he reflected on how he once used drugs to numb his emotions, despite his massive success. “I had all this success, but I was still sad and in pain,” he admitted, adding that he felt lost in the industry and struggled with his identity.
Since then, Bieber has made significant changes, finding stability in his marriage to Hailey and embracing fatherhood. The couple, who first met in 2009, rekindled their romance in 2018, got engaged that summer, and married later that year. They welcomed their first child in August 2023.
Now, as he balances family life and music, Bieber remains focused on his future, shutting down any false narratives about his well-being.
