Officials Update Threat Level of Massive Volcano Due to Erupt as 300,000 Americans Brace

Nearly 300,000 Americans remain on alert as Mount Spurr was seen to shown signs of volcanic unrest that started early during the year.

While seismic activity continues to elevate, the Alaska Volcano Observatory explained that it detected 60 to 80 earthquakes every week under Mount Spurr in the last month.

The rate of these deep earthquakes occurring more than 6 miles below sea level has remained steady for a while now.

This indicated how the magma continues to remain active deep below the volcano. Ground deformation taking place is clear evidence of the magma movement.

Ground deformation, a sign of magma movement, has slowed over the past three weeks. Volcanic gas measurements have not been possible since March due to persistent poor weather that has prevented monitoring flights. A similar event might give rise to complete ashfall across the country, the AVO warned.

As of right now, no exact timeframe has been shared in terms of when the volcano will erupt, but the activity recorded so far is alarming.

This eruption would produce destructive mudslides and avalanches of volcanic debris racing down the volcano’s side at nearly 200 miles per hour. Thankfully, the experts claim that there are no communities in the radio that could be impacted seriously.
